Karibu Tours Itineraries example 1 [05.02.2007]

OPTION 1 : 10 days Kigali - Kigali

Day 1: Karibu Tours will be there to greet you at the airport.  Check into your hotel and freshen up before you are given a tour of Kigali including the Genocide Museum and a visit to a local handicraft center.


Day 2: An early morning start will have you viewing game at Akagera National Park in the afternoon.  A bit of relaxing around the pool before a specialty supper in the Akagera Game Lodge dining room


Day 3:    A morning game drive to view elephant, zebra, giraffe, baboons and all that Akagera has to offer.  After lunch you will enjoy a scenic drive to Ruhengeri. 


Day 4:   Trek Volcanoes National Park in search of the magnificent Mountain Gorilla.  Time spent with a gorilla family in their natural habitat is an exhilarating and memorable experience. 


Day 5:   A short and beautiful 1 hour drive will take you to Gisenyi, the most popular resort town in Rwanda, on the shores of Lake Kivu.  Enjoy fresh fish for lunch and take a dugout canoe ride. Return to Ruhengeri for the night.


Day 6:   You will be driven to Butare for a late lunch and a visit to the National Museum, the National University of Rwanda and Rwanda’s largest church.   Overnight in Butare.


Day 7:   This morning you will begin your journey into Nyungwe Forest.   Enjoy a quick lunch, upon arriving into Nyungwe, before you find yourself trekking Colobus monkeys.  Your accommodation will be a cottage set amid one of Rwanda’s largest coffee plantations.


Day 8:    An early and energetic trek will have you amongst a large population of Nyungwe Chimpanzee, watching and enjoying their antics.    After lunch tours of tea and coffee plantations are available. 


Day 9:    A scenic and leisurely drive back to Kigali with the option of visiting Nyamata and Ntarama genocide memorials.    Your last night in Rwanda will be spent dining and dancing at Rwanda’s number 1 night club “Cadillac Club” 


Day 10:   Prepare for your flight and be taken to the airport for your return home.

6 Day Itinerary


Day 1:  Karibu Tours will be there to greet you at the airport and welcome you to Rwanda.  You will have time for a refreshing beverage sitting beside the pool at the Milles Collines Hotel before you embark on a tour of Kigali city.  Enjoy a visit to the local market, a tour of the Genocide Museum and time for a bit of traditional art and crafts shopping.   Overnight in Kigali.


Day 2:   You will be driven from Kigali to Butare, home to the National University of Rwanda, Rwanda’s National Museum and Rwanda’s largest church.   Supper and overnight in Butare.


Day 3:   An early morning start will allow you to be viewing Colobus monkeys, in Nyungwe Forest, before you lunch in a cottage set amid one of Rwanda’s largest coffee plantation.  Overnight at the cottage in the forest.


Day 4:    Rise early and off to trek the rambunctious Chimpanzees residing in Nyungwe Forest.  Upon returning from your trek you will have time for a delicious lunch at the cottage before being driven to Ruhengeri.


Day 5:   Another very early morning, for a very good reason, trekking Mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park.  6:30 am at park headquarters for your briefing before embarking on the most exciting trek Rwanda has to offer.  Time spent with a gorilla family in their natural habitat is a memory that will last a lifetime.

Day 6:    You will enjoy a leisurely and informative drive to Kigali, where you will prepare for your return flight.

5 Day Itinerary


Day 1: Karibu Tours will be there to greet you at the airport and whisk you off to the oasis of Milles Collines Hotel, for a refreshing beverage and an overview of your itinerary before a scenic 2 hour drive to Kinigi.  Upon arrival at your hotel you will have time to refresh before you enjoy a traditional Rwandese meal.  Relaxing drinks in the lounge before you retire to your room in preparation of an early morning awakening. 


Day 2: A quick breakfast before your arrival at ORTPN headquarters where you will be given instruction from park wardens to prepare you for your intimate visit with a family of Rwanda’s Mountain Gorillas, an exhilarating and memorable experience.
Later in the afternoon you will be taken into Ruhengeri for a tour of the town and time for shopping in the local market and local specialty craft shops. 
Return to your hotel for a relaxing evening.


Day 3: Will begin with a visit to a local primary school where you will meet the children and see the curriculum before beginning your journey to beautiful Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu.
Upon arrival into Gisenyi you will be given a tour of the city and have the opportunity to visit the local market.  A delicious lunch on the shores of Lake Kivu, with Kingfisher birds diving for fish and fishermen in dugout canoes to keep you entertained.    Overnight in Gisenyi.


Day 4: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your return drive to Kigali.  After checking into your hotel you will be taken on a tour of Kigali including a rooftop restaurant, Amahoro Stadium, and the Genocide Memorial Museum.  Your last evening will be spent at Kigali’s number 1 night spot “Cadillac Club”, where you can dance and enjoy yourself until the early morning hours.


Day 5: You will have a leisurely morning preparing for your flight before departing to the airport.
